David Joseph Galle was born in 1944 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the second son of Charlie and Doris Galle. After years of literally walking to school uphill in several feet of snow, he moved on to graduate with a Business Degree from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. He worked in New York City for a few years, later moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he met his wife Patricia. They were married June 20, 1970 at Blessed Sacrament Church. During the next 47 years, David lived and worked for a several companies in retail buying, catalog and direct marketing. He ultimately retired from J.C.Penney in 2004.
The highlight of his retired life was being “Papa” to his three amazing grandchildren. David enjoyed fishing, grilling, the Packers, napping through movies, and embarrassing his children in front of their friends. His repertoire of dad-jokes was endless, and his ability to turn any moment into a “someday we’ll think back about this and laugh” piece of family history is without equal. He loved life, he loved making those around him laugh, and treated every stranger as a future friend. He will be greatly missed.
David returned home to the perfection of Heaven on September 19, 2017 after more than a year-long fight with cancer. He passed on at the age of 73 in Plano, Texas.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Patricia, daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Chris O’Mara, son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Marcy Galle, grandchildren Gwendolyn Galle, Preston Galle, and Cameron O’Mara, brothers Terry, Steven, and Tim, and sisters Judi and Mary Jo, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Michelle and Ray Cormier.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Allen Family Funeral Options. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 N. Central Expressway, Allen, Texas 75013
