WW II - US Army Air Force - 1944/1946. He farmed twelve miles southwest of Gothenburg since 1946. Like his grandfather, Elwood, and his father, James, Roger was very active in cooperatives. He became a member of the Farmers Co-op Elevator board in 1957, and Gothenburg Co-op Oil board in 1958. These two companies were later merged, and the company became known as Farmland Service. (All-Points CO-OP). Roger was a member of Farmland Industries board in Kansas City, Missouri, since 1965, and served as Chairman of Farmland Foods board. He was past Chairman of the board of directors of Agricultural Council of America in Washington, D.C.
