Matilda is the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Ann (Stafford) Jenkins. She married Daniel D. Prosser, June 18, 1840 in Brown Co., IN. They had 8 children: Thomas, Katherine, George, Nancy, William, Margaret, David, and Matilda.

Matilda and Daniel married in IN and settled for a time in Ohio and IL. They came to Iowa in 1851, where they remained until death. They were farmers - Daniel improved a 164 acre farm, which was wild land when he first obtained it.

Both were earnest members of the Christian Church.
