She graduated from Albion High School in 1941. On October 26, 1947 Arlene was united in marriage to Delmer Ahrens in Columbus. The couple lived in Columbus where she worked for Nebraska Public Power District for 50 years retiring in 1991. Arlene was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
