Dianne Carroll Akins, 62, of Benton, TN, passed away early Monday morning, December 3, 2007 at her residence. She was a native of McMinn County where she lived for several years and had resided in Polk Co. for many years. She was a daughter of the late Eva Sue Newman Carroll. She was a member of the Englewood First Church of God and was a former employee of the CSX Railroad.

Survivors include: 1 daughter & son-in-law, Amy and Chris Williams of St. Augustine, FL; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Suzanne Akins of Benton, TN and Joey and Rebecca Akins also of Benton, TN; Father: T.J. Carroll of Etowah, TN; Grandchildren: Avery Akins, Zack Akins, and Ashleigh Akins, Brock Raper, Alex Akins, Sarah Williams and Bradley Williams.; 2 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Nancy and Don Newman of Greenville, SC. and Susan and Chris Hensley of Etowah, TN; 3 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law: Michael and Gail Carroll of Cumming, GA, Tim and Kaye Carroll of Rockhill, SC, and Greg Carroll of Englewood, TN.; A special Uncle: Dwayne Newman of Etowah, TN; and Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2007 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home and will conclude with a Celebration of Life Video. The Rev. Will Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral Home.

Interment will be at the Mars Hill Cemetery immediately following the service and will conclude with a White Dove Liberation Ceremony.
