Born February 18, 1923, she was the wife of the late William T. "Duck" Daniel, III, and the daughter of the late Landreth Foster King and Polly Ann Elizabeth Cooley.
As the last survivor of her immediate family, she is predeceased by her sister Nora Lucille King Pittman and her brothers, Roy Landreth King, Sr., Marvin Edward King, and Paul Hyman King. She had no children. Her niece, Shirley Sue Pittman Eskew, great-niece Melissa Sue Eskew-Dalton, and great-nephew James Richard Eskew cared for her since she became ill in 2007. She leaves behind many other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and their children, too many to name.
She was a member of Lee Road Baptist Church, the Adult Choir, the Senior Adult Choir, and the Alice Gibson Sunday School Class. She retired as co-owner of Welcome Fuel Oil Company. She and Duck spent their retirement visiting nursing homes in the Upstate, singing while he played guitar. She was a 1941 graduate of Greenville High School and worked as a mannequin model for J B Whites in the 1940's.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Melissa E. Dalton, 2003 E. Lee Road, Taylors, SC 29687. Cards may be sent to Shirley P. Eskew, 200 Wakewood Way, Greenville, SC 29609.
In addition to any flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association , American Stroke Association , or Lee Road Baptist Church for Home Missions/ Crisis Centers.
