Biography submitted by Bill Kamradt:

Cora was born in in Mantorville, Minnesota during the time when her father was employed by the 'Mantorville and Kasson Express' newspaper.

In 1882, Cora moved with her family to Bird Island, Minnesota where she received her initial formal education. In 1891 the family moved to East Jordan, Michigan where she received the remainder of her schooling.

Cora married John Burney on May 23, 1906, in Traverse City, Michigan. John, 'the boy next door', was two years older than Cora, a tall powerful young man who worked as a millwright at the East Jordan Lumber Company's Mill 'B'.

In 1912 John built, almost single handed, a fine home at 202 Mary Street, East Jordan, Michigan. This residence was next door to that of Cora's parents. John and Cora lived there until her death at age of 56 years, on July 31, 1937.

John and Cora had no children, so they rented one of their spare bedrooms to Ed Kamradt, when he took employment in the East Jordan Lumber Compnay's Mill 'B; in 1912. It was here that Ed Kamradt met his wife to be, Martha Lorraine, who then was only 10 years old and lived with her grandparents in the house next door.

After Cora died, John moved to Muskegon, Michigan and rented the house to his sister until 1946 when his grand nephew, Carl Kamradt, bought the house for he and his new bride. Carl then moved to the Detroit, Michigan area in 1952 and sold the house to his parents. Ed and Martha Kamradt then lived the rest of their lives in this house that Martha's Uncle John built. Carl and his wife returned to this house after his retirement from General Motors Diesel in 1984 and they both resided there until their deaths. Carl's middle son, Michael, now resides in this home.
