Funeral Held at Congretional Chruch-Sermon by Rev. Butcher
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Smith Clapp were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Congretional Church, in charge of the Rev. W.T. Butcher.
Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Miss Olive Harris, Dale Young and Clifford Young. The Pallbearers were A.J. Ryden, Charles Clark, George Castle, Cyrus Stegall, James Burner and Frank Fulmer. Interment is in the Abingdon Cemtery.
Laura Rebecca Smith, daughter of J.B. and Elizabeth A. Smith was born April 27, 1879 and passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WAsh. March 9, 1915, aged 38 yers, 10 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage ot Wm. H. Clapp on December 13, 1899. There is left to mourn her departure her husband, one son , Francis R. Reynolds, of Deer park, Wash; one stepson, Herbert R. Clapp , of Chicago; five brothers and one sister-John L. of Abingdon, J.B. of Knoxville; Robert M. of Hebron, Neb; Chas E. of Abingdon; Dr. Cyrus H. of Tonica, ILL and Mrs. K.T. Snyder of Minneapolis, Minn. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. All that patient hands and medical skill could do could not prolong her days here. She was a patient sufferer, a loving wife and faithful mother. The deceased was a member of Central Congretional Church of Galesburg, during the pastorate of Dr. Vincent. Her favorite book of the Bible was the Psalms and she loved to repeat, "Blesses are the dead that died in Christ."
