4. Helen Jane Kennedy, 1917 MI - , married Earl House, 1 son, (Helen was adopted with Bernice by her Aunt Maud & Uncle Sam)
Bernice lost her mother, Frieda, during the world flu epidemic of 1918. Her mother died leaving her husband James with the challenge of working and raising 5 children.
Bernice's Aunt Maud Genevieve (Kennedy) Brenn had no children. Maud and her husband Sam wanted to have children. The families talked, it was very hard decision for her father James, but it was decided. Maud and Sam Brenn adopted Bernice and her sister Helen.
The girls loved California and were very close growing up.
Bernice was the valedictorian of her 1932 high school class. She had a artist talent and was off to college and a great future. Sadly it was not to be, Bernice was killed in an auto accident on her way to college.
Bernice's adoptive parent's Sam & Maud Brenn and her Aunt Ruth Kennedy are also buried in this cemetery.
