He later built the local Post Office as well as 32 other Post Offices for the U. S. Government. In his 45 years of contracting business he designed, built and was consulting engineer for a great number of structures. He was contractor for many government projects, including parts of the Fort Knox Army installation. At one time he was president of Group 4 of the Kentucky Bankers Association and was Taylor County War Bonds chairman during World War II. He was a 25 year Mason and a member of the Campbellsville Christian Church. He was an original member of the Taylor County Area Development Association and spurred the drive for the building of the Taylor County Manufacturing Company here. He designed and helped finance the local Armory and has been active in every worthwhile civic improvement and advancement in Campbellsville and Taylor County. His long and tireless career began when he was a boy of 15 and was named deputy sheriff to serve under his father, the late Dr. James O. Miller, in Russell County.
