Born January 6, 1924, in Horse Valley, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Wayne and Blanche (Ryder) Piper. She was a 1942 graduate of Fannett Township High School.
She retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot; prior to that she was employed at the Stanley Company, Chambersburg. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was a member of N.A.R.F.E. (National Association of Retired Federal Employees), the Charles M. Nitterhouse Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post #1599, and the Women of the Moose, Lodge #1128, both of Chambersburg, Pa.
Surviving is a son, Stuart Cranson of Stuttgart, Germany, a sister, Sara (Mrs. Glenn) Stewart of Shippensburg, Pa., a brother, Daniel and wife Barbara Piper of Doylesburg, Pa., and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her companion, John B. Duryea of Chambersburg, and friend, Linda Noll of Fayetteville, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Piper and Charlotte Locke.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 20, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, Pa. by the Rev. Darwin Goshorn, who will officiate. Interment will be in Concord Union Cemetery, Concord, Pa.
Friends may call at the funeral home, one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
