I was born and raised in Atlanta, but have lived most of my adulthood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Coincidentally I ended up right where my roots are on my father's side of the family. Genealogy is my passion and I never met a cemetery I didn't like. I'm also into historic preservation, both of buildings and the lives of people no longer with us.|
As the daughter of a general and great-granddaughter of 3 Confederate veterans, I like to note military records of veterans on their findagrave memorials.
I welcome corrections/additions, but will no longer link to a "burial unknown" person. I have found this leads to duplicates.
FAMILIES ON MY FATHER'S SIDE: Irwin, DeWeese, Blackwelder, Babcock, Taylor, Wilbon.
FAMILIES ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE: Bryan, Battle, Pope, Atkinson, Yarbrough, Chappell.

We do have a few photos with Sgt Gamble in them and I will work on getting the best ones and post them on the memorial.

Thanks for the info. I did not realize that Nora died in 1919 and the 4 other children were born 1923 and on.
|Candyce ||Evelyn Burgin Wrenn|
Evelyn was my grandmother she actually had 2 girls:
Miriam Crosby and Josephine Wrenn Rice. Jo was my aunt. I believe she was born November 23 1923 and died in August 2015. Evelyn was married to Earl Wrenn and they lived in Siler City. They divorced when the girls were little. I don't have any info on him.
Evelyn always said she was born in 1903 and that was put on her tombstone. But her younger brother Bill was born in 1903 and they were not twins. My cousin told me that the date on her mothers birth certificate for Evelyn was 1898. Not sure how you can find this.
Thanks for your hard work in putting this all together!
I grew up in Charlotte and now live in Sun City Indian Land.

Thanks so much for this information Susan and for your kind words about my mother! Here is a link to her obituary.
I addition to wedding director she was the first female deacon at Sharon and was also an elder (not sure if she was the first). She and my dad were youth fellowship leaders in the 1950's and she was president of WOC at some point. Her ashes will be buried at Sharon with my dad, probably in August. A memorial service will also be held at Sharon but date is still pending.
|Sheryl McBride||Anna Hullender Photo|
Susan, can you delete the photo of Anna Hulkender in Oakwood Cemetery in Concord NC and post a new one ? The one you have posted on the memorial now is very blurry and someone has requested a new photo. Thanks.
|Layne Sabert||Harry Sorensen|
Thank you for all the hard work! Harry was my grandfather (not biological) and I had no idea he changed his name after coming to the US. It's wonderful to learn new things about family members! I am going to upload a photo.

Susan, thank you so much for the transfers. I am happy to have them all in one maintenance name. However, I know you care also, being our heroine Blackwelder researcher with all the history you've found and shared! Thank you.
