JOACHIM STEFFEN

Joachim Steffen, 73, of R. 1, Newton, a retired Town of Meeme farmer, died unexpectedly at his home early today.
Born Feb. 1, 1895 in the Town of Liberty, he was a son of the late John and Caroline Sehrenbach Steffen. He attended St. Gregory's Catholic School at St. Nazianz. On Sept. 10, 1924, he married the former Adela Ohse of the Town of Meeme.
The couple resided on the Ohse homestead farm which they operated until his retirement five years ago. The farm then was purchased by his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Groh.
Mrs. Steffen died in March, 1964.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Marie) Groh of R. 1, Newton; four grandchildren and four brothers, Frank of rural New Holstein, and Richard, Carl and William of Rural Kiel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman. The Rev. Francis Rose, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem Mass, which will follow brief rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home,
Kiel, at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Town of Meeme.
