Frank X. Steffen, 88, of Route 1, New Holstein, died Saturday night at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after a lingering illness.
Born Oct. 8, 1888, in St. Nazianz, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Steffen. He married Veronica Seichter on August 26, 1919 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. He died on April 5, 1967. Mr. Steffen was a life-long resident of the New Holstein area, where he farmed.
He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown, its Holy Name Society, and New Holstein American Legion Post No. 124.
Surviving are five sons, Leander of Sheboygan Falls, Randolph of R. 1, New Holstein, Kenneth of New Holstein, Allen of Kiel and Arlyn of R. 2, New Holstein; one daughter, Mrs. Alois (Genevieve) Heimann of R. 1 New Holstein; 22 grandchildren and three brothers, Carl, Richard and William, all of R. 1, Kiel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at St. Martin Church, Charlestown, Father Arnuf Buck, pastor, celebrant of Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
