Hermes D. Steffen, 38, of 124 Water St., Kiel, died at his home early Friday, March 8.

Born Oct. 23, 1929 in the town of Charlestown, he was a son of Frank and the late Veronica Seichter Steffen. He attended St. Martin’s Catholic School in Charlestown.

On Oct. 10, 1957 he married the former Audrey Nisler of the town of Charlestown at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in the town of Charlestown. The couple lived in New Holstein until 1963 when they moved to Kiel.

He was employed at the Lake to Lake Dairy in Kiel.
He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel, and the Tri-County V.F.W. Post in Kiel.

Survivors include his wife; his father, Frank, of R. 1, New Holstein; one sister, Mrs. Alois Heimann of R. 1, New Holstein; and five brothers, Leander of Sheboygan Falls, Randolph, Kenneth and Arlyn, all of New Holstein and Allen of Kiel. One sister and a brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. George Kiefer officiating. Burial was in St. Martin’s Cemetery in the town of Charlestown.
