WILMER STEFFEN DIES INSTANTLY OF NECK INJURY

One man was killed and another critically injured when a car and a truck crashed at the intersection of County Trunk J and a town road about two and a half miles northeast of New Holstein Wednesday morning.

Wilmer B. Steffen, 25, New Holstein, Route 1, driver of the car was killed instantly. He was on his way to work at the Associated Fur Farms, New Holstein. His watch, broken by the impact of the crash, was stopped by 5:50 o’clock.

Steffen was born in the town of Charlestown, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steffen. He made his home with his parents at New Holstein, Route 1, and was employed by the Associated Fur Farms, New Holstein. He attended St. Martin’s Catholic school in the town of Charlestown and was a member of St. Martin’s church. He belonged to the Holy Name society of the parish.

Survivors include his parents; six brothers, Leander, Randolph, Allen and Arlan, at home and Kenneth and Hermis, both serving in the army in Germany; a sister, Mrs. Fred Wollersheim of Kiel

Funeral services are scheduled at St. Martin’s Catholic church, Charlestown. Rev. Arnulf Buck will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
