Mary B. Adams
The funeral for Mary Byrd Adams, 81, of 118 Inman St., Martinsville, who died June 22, 2006, at her home, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Services chapel with the Rev. Lewis Harris Sr., Dr. G.H. Vaughan and Dr. Phillip A. Duckett officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
She was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Franklin County to Vincent Oliver Byrd and Mannie Robertson Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, Alfie Byrd, Ed Byrd, Odie Byrd, Bennie Byrd, Junie Byrd, Bill Byrd, Jack Byrd and Ervin Byrd.
She had been employed by Stone Container for 43 years. She was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church where she was in the Friendship Sunday School Class, a member of the Bible Study group and the Mission Circle.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Lynn Adams of the home; two sisters, Elsie Byrd of Roanoke and Essie Byrd Kidd of Martinsville; one brother, Warren David Byrd of Martinsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to McCabe Memorial Baptist Church Social Hall Renovation Fund, 107 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Va. 24112.
