During WWII, he served in the Army Air Forces, 20th Bombardment Squadron, as an aerial gunner. He participated in campaigns in Northern Apennines, Central Europe, Po Valley and Rhineland. for his services he earned an Air Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and a WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged March 9, 1946, with a rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Kiger was a horseman, driver, trainer, and self employed farrier. He once worked for Delvin Miller and Bob McCarrell.
He was a member of the Meadowlands UM Church and NRA.
On November 29, 1947 he married Alberta "Bertie" Reynolds, who died June 23, 2000.
Jack Kiger has a surviving son, Richard R, (Ellie) Kiger of Ruff Creek. Also surviving is a sister, Betty White of Ruff Creek. Deceased in addition to his parents is a brother Richard T. Kiger and a sister Janice Kiger Berdine.
