William Edward Race, Sr. age 78, a lifetime resident of the Town of Grover, died June 5, 1955 in Marinette General Hospital where he had been a patient for nine days. The deceased was born in the Town of Grover on January 12, 1877.

He married the former Flora King at Harmony.
The couple would have observed their 59th wedding anniversary on July 3rd. Mr. Race was a member of the Community Club of Porterfield.

He is survived by his wife and five sons: William of Porterfield, WI; George of Green Bay, WI; Howard and Herbert of Marinette, WI and Robert, at home;
six daughters: Mrs. Leonard Loucks of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Arthur Utter of Marinette, WI; Mrs. Joseph Michalski of Harmony, WI; Mrs. John Walters of Peshtigo, WI Mrs. Harold Loomis and Mrs. Eva Bowman of Grover, WI.
Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home in Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
Pallbearers were Harold, Donald and Norman Rac, Raymond Loomis and Claude Drewery. Burial in the Harmony Cemetery.
