Tois E. Carter, 77, of Palatka, died this morning, April 28, 1995, at Putnam Community Hospital following a long illness.
He was born in New Lacey, Ga. He had grown up in Seville. He had been a resident of Palatka for the past 49 years, coming from Seville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He formerly owned the Putnam Barber Shop in Palatka, where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Lemon Heights Baptist Church in Palatka.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma M. Carter of Palatka; daughter, Rhonda Martin of Sanford; two sons, William E. "Billy" Carter and Daniel J. "Danny" Carter, both of Palatka; two sisters, Ella Mae Clark of Palatka and Willie Hare of Lakeland; two brothers, Henry O. Carter of Palatka and Lewis P. Carter of Coppers Cove, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral is 2:30 p.m. Monday at Lemon Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Wooten officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery with military honors given by the U.S. Army.
