James Harry McCreary was born September 1862 in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska to John Sylvester McCreary and Mary Ann Creighton.

The marriage of Miss Minnie Riley and J. H. McCreary was solemnized with much state Tuesday morning. The bride wore a heavy cream ottoman silken train, with rich pearl front. The train was bordered with feather trimming. The corsage was V shaped and garnished with seed pearls. The veil was festooned with orange blossoms and diamonds and natural flowers completed the toilet. The bridesmaid, Miss Lizzie Riley, wore pink satin draped with silk tulle, V-shaped corsage and natural flowers. She was attended by Edward McCreary. A gas light reception was held at the home of the bride's parents from 12 to 4, which was largely attended. The invited included,... Mr. and Mrs. John McCreary, Mrs. and Mrs. F. McCreary, Wallie McCreary, Emmet McCreary, Ed and John McCreary, ... The presents were numerous and of the costliest description. Among them were noticed ...., dozen silver spoons in case, Mary McCreary; silver and pearl knives and forks, Wallie McCreary; silver tea set, C. F. James (Harry) McCreary, 77, life-long Omaha resident, died last night at the home of his brother, William w. A retired real estate man, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McCreary, and the nephew of the late John and Edward Creighton. Services: Thursday, John A. Gentleman mortuary at 9 am to St. Bernard's church at 9:30 burial, Holy Sepulchre. Rosary, Wednesday, 8 pm at mortuary.
