PIONEER CITIZEN SUCCUMBS FRIDAY

FUNERAL RITES HELD SUNDAY FOR FARWICK TANDY COLLINSWORTH AT BAPTIST CHURCH

Shamrock lost another of its pioneer citizens when Farwick Tandy Collinsworth, 78, passed away Friday night after .a fair-week illness.

Mr. Collinsworth had been a resident of this county since 1903. Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. V. M. Lollar, pastor of the Samnorwood Church, and Rev. A. C. Haynes, pastor of the First Methodist Church, in charge of the rites. Pallbearers were Art Fleming, B. F. Kersh, Bob Douglas, Lewis Goodrich, Monte Gossett and Chas, Duncum. Honorary pallbearers were Wood Baxter, Henry Holmes, Austin Byrd, J. J. Messer, J. J. Lummus and G. H. Burkhalter. Flower attendants were Mrs. T. E. Burkhalter, Mrs. G. T. Glasscock, Mrs, Robert Wade Coleman, Mrs. Wesley Leake, Mrs. G. H. Burkhalter, Mrs. George Stanford. Clay Funeral Home made interment in the local cemetery.

Born February 11, 1863, in Tennessee, Mr. Collinsworth came to Texas when a young man. He lived for several years at Crowell and in 1903 moved with his family to Wheeler county. Mr. Collinsworth joined the Baptist church in boyhood and was affiliated with the local church since its organization. He was a man of sincere Christian character and highly respected by all who knew him. Mr. Collinsworth at one time was interested in the cotton business, owning a gin here. He later did contracting for bridges and railroad work and house moving. He was an active member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. About five years ago Mr. Collins-worth retired from active business life. His health had been failing for the past three years but his condition did not become serious until

four weeks ago.

Surviving are five sons, John Collinsworth of Texola, Walter Collinsworth of Houston, L. K. Collinsworth of Denver, Colo., Dewey and Clint Collinsworth of Shamrock: one daughter, Mrs. Pearl mad of Enid, Okla.; 28 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; too brothers, Albert and Milt Collinsworth; both of Collin County, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. A large number of friends tended the rites Sunday paying final tribute to the well known county resident. Deepest sympathy Is extended to his bereaved family by friends in Shamrock in while the Texan joins.
