Judith M. Hassinger, age 67, of Kiel, died Thursday morning, December 27, 2012 at Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein after a courageous battle with cancer since 2005.

She was the former Judy Vogel, born April 27, 1945 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Arno & Hattie (Schmitt) Vogel.

Judy attended grade school in Kiel and was a 1963 graduate of Plymouth High School.

On November 16, 1963 she was united in marriage to Keith Hassinger at Salem UCC in Plymouth.

The couple moved to Yuma, AZ while Keith served in the Marine Corp. After his discharge the couple moved back to the Kiel area in 1966.

She attended Bethel United Methodist Church.

Judy dedicated her life to her family and her home. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play sports, camping, fishing and was a huge Packer fan.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Keith of Kiel, three children: Lori (Rich) Schmitt, Kiel, Mike (Sandy) Hassinger, Kiel, Brett (Diane) Hassinger, Elkhart Lake and eight grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon & Kristin Schmitt, Mitchel & Madelynn Hassinger and Ciara, Brady & Trista Hassinger. She is further survived by her sisters, Elvira (Clarence) Richter, Elkhart Lake, Mabel Lenz, Kiel, her brother, Vernon (Aggie) Vogel, Kiel, sisters-in-law, Elaine, Rosalie & Loretta Vogel, all of Sheboygan, brothers-in-law, Roy (Bernie) Hassinger, Kalispell, MT, Dave (Sharon) Hassinger, Elkhart Lake, mother-in-law, Edna Hassinger, Plymouth, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rueben, Elroy, Fritz, Arlen (Betty Jane) & Donald Vogel, sisters, Lucinda (Melvin) Happel, Ellen (Norman) Lehrke, Elaine (Joe) Lisowe, Betty Niemuth, brother-in-law, Alvis Lenz, sister-in-law, Janice Vogel and father-in-law, Ray Hassinger.

Funeral services for Judy will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with Pastor Donald Drollinger officiating.

Burial will take place in Schleswig Cemetery, Town of Schleswig (Rockville).
