Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hillman, prominent residents of Brillion, will observe their golden wedding anniversary on Wednesday, July 4, with an open house for their friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Mr. Hillman was an assemblyman of Calumet county for six years, and chairman of the town of Rantoul for 20 years.
Church services will be held in their honor at 3:30 p.m. at the Trinity Ev. Lutheran church, and the choir of which Mr. Hillman was a member for 20 years will sing several selections. Following the services at the church, supper will be served at 4:30 in the church basement to 150 guests. A reception will be held at their home after the supper.
The Hillmans were married on July 4, 1895, at the Lutheran church in Rantoul, by the Rev. W. Sagehorn. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Brillion for 28 years, and 22 years ago took up residence in the city.
Mr. Hillman is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hillman and Mrs. Hillman, the former Gusta Riemer, the daughter of the late Fred Riemers. She is an honorable member of the Ladies Aid society of their church.
Of the six attendants at their wedding 50 years ago, only one is deceased. The remaining five are as follows: Mrs. Henry Biedenbender, the former Anna Hillman, Carl Riemer, Martin Schwalenberg, William Riemer, Mrs. Martin Schwalenberg, the former Christina Riemer. They will be present at the celebration.
The couple's seven children are Edwin, Milford and Roland of Brillion, Mrs. Rudy Schnell and Mrs. Clara Reed of Green Bay, Mrs. Jack Kirby of Milwaukee, and Carl of Rockland. They have 16 grandchildren.
