EAGLE GROVE - Thomas Floyd Anderson was born March 19, 1939, in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Floyd Anderson and Catherine (McKenna) Anderson. He was raised in Eagle Grove and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1957. He then attended Eagle Grove Community College. Tom enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958 and served aboard the USS Molala as an Interior Communication Specialist and the USS Jason serving 4 years active duty between the West Coast and the Far East. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked at Globe Union in Fort Dodge as an inspector, and then he began his banking career at the State bank in Fort Dodge. While living in Fort Dodge, he was a member of the Fort Dodge Jaycees.

On February 12th, 1966, he married Julia Balint at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Dodge. They moved to Eagle Grove Sept of 1966, where they lived their entire married life. Tom was employed at Security Savings Bank in Eagle Grove for 33 years, retiring as Vice President in 1999. He attended installment loan school in Muncie, Indiana and also attended a banking school in Norman, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Jr. Bankers Association and served as President. Tom was active in the Eagle Grove community, serving as Board member of the Eagle Grove Library, Chamber Of Commerce President and City Treasurer many years. He was an active member of the Eagle Grove Rotary Club, serving as Treasurer and President of the club. He served as Treasurer on the Rotary Home Board of Directors since 1971. Thomas was a volunteer for the American Heart Association and the Lung Association for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove and the Knights of Columbus. He served on the church council for several years and was Chairman on the council and on the finance committee while serving his terms. He was also active with the Cemetery Committee. He was a member of the American Legion in Eagle Grove. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with his wife, Julie.

Thomas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Thursday, January 24, 2013, at The Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge at the age of 73 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Catherine Anderson. Surviving are his wife, Julia; daughter, Patricia Fredrickson and her husband, Charles of Green Bay, WI; son, Thomas Jr. and his wife, Suzanne of Coral Springs, FL.; grandchildren: Andrew Fredrickson, Michael Fredrickson, Brittney Anderson and her fiance Lucas Dennis, Alyssa Anderson, Emily Anderson, Madeline Anderson & Logan Foster; sister, Marilyn Anderson, Eagle Grove.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Nils Hernandez officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
