Arviel Dean Pullium, 74, of Murphy died Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Union General Hospital. He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. Dean was a retired carpenter and brick mason, and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid deer hunter, sportsman, and loved watching football.

He was the son of the late Chess and Mae Brown Pullium. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Savonne Mathis; and a brother, Dan Pullium.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Nada Graham Pullium; three sisters, Sharon Guffey, Shirley Tatham and husband, Jerry, and Sheila Lumb all of Andrews; and four brothers, Dale Pullium and wife, Helen of Marble, David Pullium of Manchester, TN, Darrell Pullium and wife, Linda of Knoxville, TN, and Dillard Pullium and wife, Teresa of Rutherfordton, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2012 in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Revs. Jerry Tatham and Roy Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Guffey, Greg, Alex, Danny, and Stanley Pullium, Jeff Tatham, Joey Mathis, and Brett Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Jacobs and Wade Burge.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Arviel Dean Pullium to the Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jean Phillips, PO Box 1189, Andrews, NC 28901.
