Ray W. Heffner, 67, of Oley R.D. 3, died Sunday afternoon at 2:50 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 29. He was the husband of Mabel M. (Nonnemacher) Heffner. Born in Rockland Township, he was a son of the late Martin R. and Helen (Eckert) Heffner.

Heffner had been employed by Stanley G. Flagg & Co. Inc., Stowe, for 25 years before retiring in 1981. He also was custodian of both Frieden's Lutheran Church and Frieden's United Church of Christ, both in Oley, for 27 years. A member of Frieden's Lutheran Church, he was a church councilman for 25 years and secretary of the church's Sunday school for 30 years.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, George R., of Leesport; a daughter, Janice L., wife of Dennis Bowersox, Fleetwood; and three grandsons. Two brothers: Roy B. and Martin R., both of Fleetwood R.D. 2, and two sisters: Mae E., widow of Paul Davidheiser, and Mary E., wife of James Dautrich, both of Reading. Also a stepbrother, Ralph T. Angstadt, Philadelphia; and a stepsister, Daisy E., wife of Barry DeLong, Douglassville. The Daniel R. Christ Funeral Home, Oley, is in charge of arrangements.
