Roy B. Heffner, 84, passed away, Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, in his Maidencreek Township residence. He was the beloved husband of Jean M. (Burgert) Heffner to whom he was married to for 60 happy years. Born in Oley Township, he was the son of the late Martin R. and Elsie (Burke) Heffner.

Roy was a 1955 graduate of Oley High School and attended Kutztown University for two years. He was a self employed carpenter and remodeler. While in business, he was a member of the home builders association. Roy was baptized, confirmed, and married at Zion (Spies) Church. He served on the music and worship committee, served numerous terms as church council president, was on the cemetery committee, the dart team and choir, and was a Sunday School teacher at the church. Roy was known for his beautiful tenor voice and sang at weddings too numerous to count, including both of his daughters and his granddaughter Brianne. Roy loved auctions, hunting, and spending time in the mountains of Lycoming County. His favorite time was his family time, and his family was his greatest love.

In addition to his wife Jean, Roy is survived by two children, Beth A., wife of Brian Santangelo, Kutztown, and Susan E., wife of Keith Phillips, Shartlesville. Four grandchildren: Brianne M., wife of Cole Wendling, Walnutport; Wade A. Phillips, Shartlesville; Nicholas B., husband of Adrienne Santangelo, Shoemakersville; and Karli L. Phillips, fiance' of Bryan Weidenhammer, Leesport; and two great grandchildren, Skylar Reimert, and Alexander Santangelo also survive him. Roy was predeceased by six siblings: Martin R. Heffner, Jr.; Ralph Angstadt; Betty Delong; Mae Davidheiser; Ray Heffner; and Mary Dautrich.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 28th, 2022, at 11 A.M., at Zion Spies Lutheran Church, 310 Spies Church Rd, Reading, PA 19606. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., and again on Thursday morning from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M., at the church with the above address.
