In 1913 after making a little money, John Palumbo, Sr. bought a hillside lot next ot Policetti's home overlooking Whitesburg and began "building a house that would last forever". His final design was a 10 room, tilek-roofed masonry house with two chimneys and a kitchen flue to accommodate a "cook stove." It had indoor plumbing which was unheard of in those days.
