He moved with his parents to Highland, O'Brien, Iowa sometime between 1876 and 1880. He was listed in the 1880 census as a teacher, later in life he was a carpenter.
He first married Adeline Lepine on 9 June 1884 in Chippawa Falls, Chippawa, Wisconsin, she was born 1 November 1864 in Rawdon, Matawinie, Lanaudière, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of Vanase Chevaudier Lepine and Adeline Beaudoin Lepine, she died 1 April 1919 in Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Edwin Alonzo and Adeline were the parents of 8 children, Lawernce Joseph, Bernice Mabel, Raymond Lester, Erwin Colon, Hazel Maude, Clarence Vanase, Otis Maxim and Beatrice Melvina Howard.
Edwin Alonzo on 4 August 1919 in Marion County, Indiana secondly married Dora Pettigrue Ping who was born in 1877 in Columbus Bartholomew, Indiana and died in July 1926. The marriage ended in divorce on 20 May 1925.
He thirdly married on 21 September 1926 in Columbus, Bartholomew, Indiana, Marie H. Hendricks Pierpoint who was born 7 April 1866 in Meade County, Kentucky.
