Rudolph E. Highland, a life-long resident of the area, was born in Cobden on September 13, 1886. He was the son of Marcus and Mary Stout Highland. His siblings include Mrs. Agnes Tripp of Anna and John Highland of Alto Pass.
His wife was the former Bertha Elizabeth Goodman who died in October, 1961. Mr. Highland leaves five children, Charles and Lewis of Carbondale; Paul of Salinas, California; Herbert of New Orleans, Louisianna; and Mrs. Louise Hayes of Detroit, Michigan.
Mr. Highland was a retired employee of the Koppers Tie Corporation. He died at the age of 76 in Holden Hospital from a heart attack.
