Fanny was born to Samuel and Phebe Wilkinson Mackey, during very hard times. Her family had been burned out of their home, there wasn't any food, and sickness was rampant. Fanny died in Montrose, across the river from Nauvoo, along with two of her sisters. They were all buried in the Old Nauvoo Burial Grounds, in Illinois.
