FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AGED THIRD WARD LADY

Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Harriet M. Wilkinson were held at the Third ward chapel last Sunday afternoon; under the direction of Bishop Anderson. The speakers were Bishop Coons, Morten Jensen and Joseph S. Horne. The speakers all paid tribute to the decendent's high character; her charitable and to all her friends and neighbors; her skill as a nurse in the early days when no physicians were within reach and her work among the sick the afflicted and the destitute. Her career had been a most remarkable one. She crossed the plains when buy 16 years of age, in a handcart company, and coming to Manti she assumed the duties of a mother to two children by becoming the wife of Allen Wilkinson. She was the mother of 13 children, and was known throughout Sevier county for her kindness and skill in cases of sickness. She leaves 11 children, 75 grandchildren and over a hundred great grandchildren.

Appropriate music was rendered by the ward choir; Kenneth Hood sang a solo and Mrs. George and Mrs. Charles Hansen sang a duet. Interment was in the City cemetery.

Harriett was born in Pennsylvania, but also lived in Illinois and Iowa before coming to Utah with her parents in the Isaac M Stewart pioneer company in 1852. They settle in Manti, Sanpete, Utah.

Harriet was the second wife of Allen Wilkinson. His first wife immigrated from England with him and died crossing the plains in 1850, leaving four children.

Harriett married Allen 16 January 1853, in Manti, Sanpete, Utah.

She was the mother of thirteen children:
