Alice Puls Day, age 89, of 2425 14th St., Two Rivers, died on Tuesday night, Nov. 6, 2007, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Alice was born on May 25, 1918, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late John and Pauline Geerdts Puls. In 1920, the family moved to a farm in Two Creeks. Her parents built the home and barn in 1920. The farm is the first farm west of the Two Creeks Fire Station. Alice went to Lake View School from first through fourth grade. The school is still there and taken care of by a history professor. In 1928, the family moved back to Two Rivers. Alice attended Hamilton School, which is now City Hall. The school had six grades, so Alice attended Washington High School from seventh through 12th grade, graduating in 1936. Alice was an only child. She was very active in school, playing in the band, and singing in both girls' chorus and mixed chorus. She played baseball, basketball and hockey.
On June 7, 1941, Alice married Patrick L. Day at Grace Congregational Church, Two Rivers, where they have been members since their marriage. Alice was a telephone operator for the Commonwealth Telephone Co. of Two Rivers. She was then employed for many years at the J.C. Penney Co., working first in Two Rivers and then at the Mid Cities Mall location before her retirement in 1974. Alice was a member of the ladies' auxiliary of the VFW Post 1248.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Meredith Anderson, with entombment to follow at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, Two Rivers, on Friday morning, Nov. 9, 2007, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials in Alice's name may be made to the Salvation Army or Grace Congregational United Church of Christ. Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, is assisting the Day family with funeral arrangements.
