Dorothy M. Dempsky, age 82, of 2005 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc, with entombment at Knollwood Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
Dorothy was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Joseph and Meta Ziemer Kattner. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1938.
On July 24, 1940, she married Chester A. Dempsky at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1981.
She was employed at the Napp Office & School Supply of Manitowoc for 19 years until her retirement in 1984. Dorothy was a member of the Manitowoc Senior citizens Center, St. Andrew Catholic Church, where she served on various parish committees and was a volunteer at St. Mary's Home for many years.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law: Joseph A. Dempsky, Sacramento, California; Michael P. Dempsky, Northglenn, Colorado; James C. and Audrey Dempsky, Denmark; Mark (Jack) and Cheryl Dempsky, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Jeda Dempsky; Julius Dempsky and his fiancée, Hana Holleran; Jenny Megna and her husband, Jason; Gina Haag and her husband, Matt; Scott Dempsky; Ginger Dempsky; Mark Dempsky II and his fiancée, Patty Biskobing; a great-grandson: Michael Joseph Megna; and two sisters and a brother-in-law: LaVerne Leitermann, Manitowoc; and Joan and Chester Gospodarek, Pound, Wis. Also surviving is an aunt, Caroline Lichtermann of Manitowoc; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law: June E. Dempsky and two brothers-in-law: Clem Hartlaub and Francis Leitermann.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Dorothy's name.
