Walter Gartzke, 86, of 1832 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15, 1988 at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

He was born in the town of Centerville, Sheboygan County, July 10, 1902, son of the late Julius and Emma Kunen Gartzke.

He married Marie Pauly on Oct. 4, 1924 in Waukegan, IL. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein and the New Holstein Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Elmer, New Holstein; Albert, Kiel; Harry, Plymouth; and one sister, Lucille Schwartz, Howards Grove.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein, the Rev. Victor Kuerschner, officiating. Burial was in Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
