He was born Jan. 22, 1914 in the town of Meeme, a son of the late Fred and Pauline Zimmermann Hemb. He attended Mineral Springs School. On May 12, 1934 he married Lavern Sohn at St. John United church of Christ, Schwartzwald. The couple farmed in the town of Meeme until 1869, when they moved to Howards Grove. He also was employed at Kohler Company for ten years, retiring in 1979. His wife Lavern, preceded him in death on March 9, 1980. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley and he was formerly on the church consistory.
Survivors include three sons, Edwin A. (Kathleen), New Holstein; Donald, Cleveland; Kenneth, a resident of Rocky Knoll; one daughter, Donna (Donald) Bennin, Cleveland; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Roland ( Leona) Hemb, Kiel and one sister, Flora (Lester) Gersmehl, Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by twin brothers, Elmer and Elwood; one brother, Fred Jr. and one granddaughter.
Private funeral services will be held Tuesday, at St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley, with the Rev. William Kesting, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be no visitation at Meiselwitz funeral home, Kiel, who is assisting the family.
