Dub moved to Tuttle with his family at the age of four years. He attended school at Tuttle, Oklahoma, graduating in 1953. He attended Central University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Leroy Coats was his roommate. Dub served in the military with Roy Culp and Tommy Parks while at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. He transferred to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he met Al Carollo. Dub got into the food industry in wholesale meat production starting as a butcher at Safeway. He was an employee of Swift and IBP for many years as a beef consultant.

Dub made his home in Garland, Texas, making friends where ever he went with that friendly, likable personality. He loved fishing, playing golf, sports of all kinds, so much so when invited he flew from Dallas to Norman with Ward Paxton, Jr., to watch an OU football game. Dub is preceded in death by both his parents, Andy and Josie, a sister Florence White, two brothers-in-law, Leslie Lee "Jr." White and Bill Hinkle, and a great-nephew, Justin Hinkle. He leaves behind his devoted partner Jo, lifelong friend Marlene Allen, daughters Kelly, Kris, Kim, and son, Ken, all of Garland, Texas, and a sister, Billie Lou Hinkle, of Tuttle. Six grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 2 nephews.

His resting place is in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Arlington, Texas. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at the Family's Life Center, across the street west of the First Baptist Church, Tuttle, Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. No flowers, please.
