Obituary Notice: Mrs. Karlie Murray Carter, age 49, wife of Charles Carter, died Sunday at a local hospital. Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert D. Murray, yellow fever specialist and expert. Dr. Murray was severely wounded during the Civil War while serving in the Union Army. He was looked upon as a leader in combatting [sic] yellow fever and was sent by the U.S. Government to take charge of places where yellow fever became epidemic. He was accidentally killed at Lorado [Laredo], Texas, in 1903 while on duty there. Mrs. Carter's mother was a daughter of the late Charles A. Fulwood, at one time presiding elder of the Methodist Church, South, and a preacher of prominence.

Mrs. Carter lived at Moultrie [FL] for some time and she and her husband are well known here. She leaves to mourn her lost [sic] her husband, Charles Carter; two brothers, Fulwood Murray of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Arbor Murray of Fort Pierce, and the following sons and daughters, Ralph E. Carter of Ocilla, Fla.; John R. Carter of Fort Pierce; Mrs. Mary E. [Elizabeth Murray] King, of Hialeah; Leone, Karlie Mae, Lillie Belle, Charlie L., and Margaret Carter.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the parlors of R.A. Ponce, undertaker. The final rites were performed at the Evergreen Cemetery by Rev. Fitz James Hindry. The pallbearers were Bryant Green, M.A. Pellicer, Howard Green, Frank DuPont, Perry Green, and James A. Barnes. All of whom were childhood friends of the deceased. R.A. Ponce conducted the funeral using a concrete vault. Many floral offerings were sent from out of town, including Miami, Ft. Pierce, Pellicer Creek and Moultrie. The funeral was largely attended.
