YORK - Anna Kathryn (Ness) Snyder, 79, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of York, died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Dale L. Snyder.

The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Chapel United Methodist Church, 3050 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion. Burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Burg Funeral Home Inc., 134 W. Broad way, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Snyder was born Jan. 16, 1922, in York. She was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Mary E. (Strickler) Ness.

She was a secretary to the Quartermaster of the U.S. Army in 1944, stationed in Fort Eustis, Va. She was a financial secretary at First Congregational Church of Phoenix for 10 years and at Albright United Methodist Church of Phoenix for four years; and a Sunday school teacher at the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Phoenix. She was a former member of St. Paul's Chapel United Methodist Church in Red Lion and a 1940 graduate of William Penn Senior High School.

Mrs. Snyder also is survived by three brothers, Wilson Ness, Elmer Ness and Robert Ness, all of York; a sister, Mildred Hull of Waynesboro; and nieces and nephews.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Jonathan L. Bausman.
