Robert was born in York, on August 24, 1928, son of the late Mary E. (Strickler) and Robert C. Ness, Sr.
He began his working career at BMY and Reed Machinery, then retired from York Hospital in 1990 as an electrician after 30 years of service.
He was a member of York First Church of the Brethren. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed bowling.
The viewing will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Donald Hubbell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
Robert is survived by a sister, Mildred Hall of Cross Keys; stepdaughter, Regina Meekins of York; two stepgrandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Ness; ste daughter, Lynda Schleeter; two brothers, Wilson Ness and Elmer Ness; and a sister, Anna Snyder.
