Robert Bruce "Bob" Childers, 82, retired farmer and merchant of Nevada Avenue, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday at the Mary Chiles Hospital after a long illness.

A native of Morgan County he was a son of the late R. A. and Ella Hill Childers and a member of the First Church of God. A gentleman of the old school, he was admired and respected by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jennie Pieratt Childers; two sons, Marshall Childers, Mt. Sterling, and Wayne Childers, Tucin, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Edna Tout, Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Bedford, Jeffersonville, and Mrs. Maggie Gibbs, Fort Mitchell; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Funeral Home by the Rev. Ralph E. Welton and the Rev. William A. Curl. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery.

Active bearers are John T. Petro, Paul Keller, Leo Jones, Bobby Davis, Charles W. Ishmael and Von Tout. Honorary bearers are Howard Mee, C. C. Ingram, Foy Ingram, Gus Sorrell, C. C. Murphy, Sr., W. P. Weckesser, Sr., Roy Murphy, N. C. Faulkner, C. P. Killpatrick and Z. N. Childers. The body is at the funeral home.
