Austin G. White was born on July 14, 1829 in Muskingen Co., Ohio, the second of ten known children born to Silas White Sr. (1793-1866) and Cynthia Ann Hammitt (1803-bet 1800/1900). Both of Austin's parents were born in Virginia and both died in Lawrenceville, Lawrence Co., Illinois. Their burial sites are currently unknown.
On April 31, 1853, Austin married Jane Debois (1831-1886)in Lawrenceville, Lawrence Co. IL. She was the daughter of Jesse Kilgore Debois I (1811-1876) and Nancy Batterton (1812-1839). Jesse is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL while Nancy, who died about 47 years earlier (1839), is buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Vincennes, Knox Co., Indiana.
Austin and Jane were married for 21 years and had three known children. They were Della Dubois White (1848-1850), Carrie Bell White (1856-1939) and Jessie Kilgore White (1857-1918).
Austin died on Oct. 11, 1874 in Lawrence Co., Illinois at the age of 45. He is buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery located in Lawrence County.
Austin's wife, Jane, did not remarry. She died on Feb. 1, 1882 at the age of 50. She too, is buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Also, buried in the Lawrenceville Cemetery is Austin and Jane's daughter, Carrie Belle (White) Jackson (1856-1939), and Austin's sister, Amanda (White) Lewis (1831-1876), as well as Austin's nephew, Jesse Kilgore White (1857-1918) and his wife, Mary G. "Mamie" (Tracy) White Boyles (1869-1945).
