Marie was born in Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. Both are buried in Vincennes, Knox Co., IN.
Jane's mother, Nancy, was born either in Bloomington, Illinois or Indiana. She died in Vincennes, Knox Co., IN where she is buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery. She was the daughter of Henry D. Batterton (1770-1832) and Susannah Guthrie ? (1767-1852). Henry was born in Loudoun Co., Virginia while Susannah was born in Halifax Co., North Carolina. Both are buried in Bloomington, Monroe Co., IN.
On April 31, 1853 Jane married Austin G. White (1829-1874) in Lawrenceville, Lawrence Co., Illinois. He was 23, she 21. Austin was the son of Silas White Sr. (1793-1866?) and Cynthia Ann Hammitt (1803-bet 1880/1900). Both of Austin's parents were born in Virginia and both died in Lawrence Co., IL.
Jane and Austin were married for 21 years and had three known children. They were Della Dubois White (1848-1850), Carrie Belle White (1856-1939) and Jesse Kilgore White (1857-1918).
Austin died on Oct. 11, 1874 in Lawrence Co., IL at the age of 45. He is buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery in Lawrence Co., Illinois.
Jane, who did not remarry, died on Feb. 1, 1882, in Lawrence Co., IL at the age of 50. She is buried in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery, close to her husband, Austin.
