Johanna Mahoney married Patrick Casey came her 10 years after he had been here and came to Clarks Hill. They married 20 August 1867 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Then had 17 children. They were Catholic and the story of their building the church here is on her husbands site. They alone remained here of the church members after 50 years. The house where they lived in Clarks Hill is still standing although in bad shape. in (2013)
Of her 17 children, two of her daughters Mary and Alice Casey were teachers in the Clarks Hill School.

Johanna had a sad time as several of her children died at a one day to a few days to a few months or years or early in life. Several never married as well. The practice of naming a child for one that was already deceased was done many times in those days.
