George L. Sullivan, a former chairman of the City Planning and Zoning Board for 25 years, died Thursday Oct 23, 1997 at Morton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 85. Mr. Sullivan, a lifelong Taunton resident, was the husband of Helen C. (O'Connell) Sullivan. He was president of D. J. Sullivan Construction Company in Taunton and a former member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks 150 and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Sullivan was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. He attended St. Michael's College in Vermont. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Taunton. Mr. Sullivan was the son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Fahey) Sullivan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, George L. Sullivan Jr. of Taunton, Paul J, Sullivan of Bridgewater, Virginia and William H. Sullivan of Norwood; a daughter, Virginia M. Sullivan of Taunton; two sisters, Alice Gibbons of Wolfboro, NH and Rose Dondero of Weymouth; a brother, Harry Sullivan of Taunton; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home today at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
