"A.B. 'ADIE' BERGLAND DIES; RETIRED LE ROY RETAILER
LE ROY -- A.B. "Adie" Bergland, 70, a longtime Le Roy area resident and a retired retailer, died Saturday at Spring Valley Community Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Bergland was born Dec. 14, 1909, in Lake Mills, Iowa. He married Laurine Bergan June 10, 1943, in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed south of Le Roy until 1947. He then owned and operated a bulk oil truck in Le Roy until 1952. From 1952 until his retirement in 1978 he owned and operated a clothing store in Le Roy.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dale of Warrington, PA; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Ilene) Unruh of Enumclaw, WA, and Mrs. Jurgen (Corinne) Becker of Munsey, NY; a grandson; three brothers, Elmer, Walter and Melvin, all of Lake Mills; and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Anonson of Joyce, Iowa, Mr. Ella Dybvad of Mason City, Iowa, and Mrs. Olaf Ness of Lake Mills. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
The funeral is 2 p.m. today at the Le Roy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The Hutchins Funeral Home in Le Roy is in charge of arrangements."
