Edwin F. Schaefer, 92, formerly of School Hill died Tuesday afternoon, September 3, 2013 at Harmony West, Manitowoc.He was born August 24, 1921 in Mt. Calvary, son of the late Joseph & Anna (Schoenborn) Schaefer.He attended Catholic School in Marytown.Edwin was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during World War II.On May 10, 1950 he married Josephine Schad at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill.Edwin worked at Bartel Dairy as a milk hauler for a number of years. He was later employed at Kohler Company for 31 years until his retirement in 1987.He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill and the Men's Club He was also a membeer of the Dartball League and Kohler Quarter Century Club.Edwin enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, ice fishing and listening and watching baseball.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Josephine, Manitowoc, five children; Joan (Dennis) Kabat, New Holstein, Dan (Diana) Schaefer, School Hill, Nancy (Joe) Gnadt, Manitowoc, Gary Schaefer, Manitowoc, Michelle Richter, Appleton and 13 grandchildren; Linda (Joe) Diefenthaler, David (Theresa) Kabat, Sheila & Marcia Kabat, Pamela (Matthew) Scheel, Travis (Megan) Schaefer, Jeremiah (Heidi) Schaefer, Doug, Emily & Gregory Gnadt, Tiffany & Tyler Schaefer and Alexandria Richter. He is further survived by 16 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Madeline, Keith, Samantha, Anthony, Brody, Caleb, Evan, Briele, Kasey, Max, Mason, Kameron, Ethan, Ella & Alaina, three sisters; Esther (Bob) Schad, Helen Schad, Erma Ramminger, brothers-in-law, Alois Schad, Erv Madson, Glenroy (Brenda) Franzen, sisters-in-law, Delores Schad, Arlene Schad, Janice Schad, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Anna Schaefer, brothers; Ervin (Sally) Schaefer, Gilbert (Virginia) Schaefer, Wilfred (Ann) Schaefer, infant brother, Herman Schaefer, brother-in-law, Ambrose Ramminger, along with brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law; Frank Schad, Bernard (Dorothy) (Lillian) Schad, Gertrude (Frank) Litz, Norman Schad, Bernadette Madson, Raymond (Alice) Schad, Alfred Schad, Mary (Kenneth) Schmitz, Anita Franzen, Roman Schad, Lillian Schad, infant, Joseph Schad and mother-in-law & father-in-law, Joseph & Theresa Schad.

The funeral Mass for Edwin will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 11928 Marken Road, School Hill with Rev. Patrick Nelson officiating.

Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
