Elizabeth Virginia "Jennie" Smith Shepherd was born in Shepherdsville, Bullitt Co. Ky on January 16, 1848 to Isaac Smith and Matilda Jane Goldsmith Smith. Jennie married William Harrison Shepherd (1841-1908) and they had 8 children. Clara, Nannie, Julia, Isaac, Charles, Owen, Lida and Maud. She passed away October 4th, 1942 and is buried in the Shepherd-Keith family cemetery on Castlemans Branch Road in Shepherdsville, Ky.

Elizabeth Shepherd (aunt Jennie) in her 95th year, passed from this life October 4, 1942 at 12:25 am at her home near here. She is survived by six daughters, Mrs Joe Snellan (Nannie), Mrs JT Cheatham (Clara), Mrs Julia Nall, Mrs James Beghtol (Maud, Mrs Stonewall Keith (Lida) Mrs Lloyd Cox (Musetta), one son, Charles Shepherd and one sister, Mrs Nannie Snellan of Knob Creek.
Funeral from Bullitt Lick Baptist Church, Wednesday October 7 at 2 p.m. and burial in the family burying ground.
