Sketch of Life of Joseph Sweeney
Joseph A. Sweeney, age 77, a long time resident of Sebeka, Minn., passed away Tuesday, May 7, 1963 at Wadena, Minn.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sweeney, born April 21, 1886 at Le Sueur County, Minnesota.
He attended school in Le Sueur County, Minnesota.
He was a member of St. Hubert's Catholic church, Blue Grass, Minnesota.
Survivors include two brothers, Ray of Browns Valley, Minnesota, and Clifford of Pierre, South Dakota; two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Westra, Foley, Minnesota, and Mrs. Monica Tappe, Keewatin, Minnesota; twenty-one nephews; twenty-two nieces and other distant relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral mass was at 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 10, 1963 at St. Hubert's Catholic church in Blue Grass with Rev. Joseph Percic officiating. The choir of the church sang. The pallbearers were Jack Stigman, Paul Wobbe, Alfred Kussatz, Fred Graba, Harry Nielsen and Ernie Westra.
Interment was in St. Hubert's cemetery at Blue Grass.
Relatives from out of town attending were Rita Billstrom, Trinetta Doll, Minneapolis; Mrs. Gordon Poirer and daughter, Cherylann, Mrs. Robert Hall, Hibbing; Alfred Westra, St. Paul, John Westra, Sauk Rapids, Minn., and Ray Sweeney, Sarles, No. Dakota.

Randall Got Ten Months - John Randall Found Guilty and Drew Ten Months Sentence For Assault

John Randall of Nimrod was found guilty of assaulting Joseph Sweeney of eastern Wadena Co., the verdict being brought in by the jury Thursday evening of last week, on the charge of attempted manslaughter in the second degree. The case is familiar to everyone in this part of the country and much interest was manifested in the trial.
The judge sentenced Randall to a ten months term in state prison and Sheriff Bengston took him to Stillwater Saturday to commence his sentence.
